Internationale conferentie over scholing in zingeving en spiritualiteit ter gelegenheid van 100 jaar Klinische Pastorale Vorming wereldwijd
‘Out of the Depths’ verwijst naar de beroemde biografie van Anton Boisen, de grondlegger van de Clinical Pastoral Education Movement. Zijn werk heeft zich nu, zo’n honderd jaar na de oprichting, verspreid over centra over de hele wereld. Op deze locaties worden professionals in spirituele zorg opgeleid en gecoacht om hun innerlijke wereld te verkennen ten dienste van hun spirituele werk met patiënten en cliënten in verschillende zorg- en kerkelijke omgevingen.
Op dit honderdjarig jubileum is het goed om de aard van hun werk en de ontwikkeling ervan onder de loep te nemen. Dit betreft de thema’s en problemen van de mensen die zij ontmoeten; hun counselingmethoden en -technieken en hun trainings-, vormings- en supervisiepraktijken in zorg en educatie.
Spirituele zorg worstelt met de taak om existentiële en religieuze zorgen aan te pakken die deze wereld - verscheurd door conflict, uitsluiting en armoede - herbergt, of het nu gaat om ons persoonlijk leven, de groepen waartoe wij behoren, de organisatie waarin wij werken of de wereld die we delen.
Net als hun gesprekspartners leven pastores en geestelijke verzorgers in een ‘gewonde wereld’. Hoewel de toepassing en praktijk van educatie in zingeving en spiritualiteit in de wereld verschilt per context, zijn er fundamentele gemeenschappelijke uitgangspunten in de brede praktijken van zorg, welzijn en gemeenschappen.
De conferentie heeft als doel met elkaar uit te wisselen en te leren en zo een internationale verbinding te leggen voor de toekomst van de onderwijsbeweging op het vlak van pastoraat, spiritualiteit en zingeving.

International conference on training in meaning and spirituality on the occasion of 100 years of Clinical Pastoral Education worldwide
“Out of the Depths” refers to the famous biography of Anton Boisen, the founder of the Clinical Pastoral Education Movement. Now, about a hundred years after its founding, his work has spread to centers all over the world. At these locations, spiritual care professionals are trained and coached to explore their inner world in service of their spiritual work with patients and clients in various healthcare and church environments.
On this centenary, it is appropriate to examine the nature of their work and its development. This concerns the themes and problems of the people they meet; their counseling methods and techniques and their training, education and supervision practices in care and education.
Spiritual care struggles with the task of addressing existential and religious concerns that this world - torn by conflict, exclusion and poverty - harbors, whether it concerns our personal lives, the groups to which we belong, the organization in which we work or the world we share.
Just like their conversation partners, pastors and spiritual caregivers live in a 'wounded world'. Although the application and practice of education in meaning and spirituality in the world varies by context, there are fundamental common principles in the broad practices of care, welfare and communities.
The aim of the conference is to exchange and learn with each other and thus establish an international connection for the future of the educational movement in the field of pastoral care, spirituality and meaning.
