Verhalen prikkelen je fantasie en laten je de wereld om je heen vergeten. En toch gáán ze over die wereld en haar bewoners. In verhalen zijn die bewoners misschien niet altijd van vlees en bloed, maar ze maken wel van alles mee. Wat als jij als storyteller iemand uit deze bonte stoet helden, antihelden, dieren, vreemde wezens, reizigers en gewone lui glans geeft én aan je eigen story werkt? Wat draag jij voor waardevols met je mee? Iets over herkomst, relatie of geslacht? Iets politieks of maatschappelijks? Jij en de natuur? Of iets lekker geks? Welke betekenis gaat er eigenlijk schuil achter jouw woorden? En hoe kunnen je toehoorders zich daarin herkennen?

Op een vertelbasis verder bouwen aan een persoonlijk verhaal
Als verteller wil je houvast in vertelkunst en plezier aan het vertellen beleven. Je wilt onderzoeken hoe je je publiek met open mond kunt laten luisteren en kijk op je stijl krijgen. Hoe? Als dramadocent creëer ik een vrijplaats waar je met een kleurrijk verhaal start. Daaruit filter je de verhaalstructuur die je basis wordt. Je leert in geuren en kleuren te vertellen en ‘in en uit de situatie’ te performen. Daarna wordt de vrijplaats een werkplaats en werk je aan je eigen verhaal. De deur naar verbeelding en verdieping staat er wijd open. Vervolgens slijp je met vertel- en theatermiddelen je story fijn, maar niet voordat je naar de betekenis achter jouw woorden hebt gezocht. Dat doe je door met identificatie op verschillende niveaus én met metaforen te werken. Aan het einde perform je kort voor de andere deelnemers.

Voor wie wil onderzoeken, vormgeven en sprankelen
Je wilt het vertelpodium op en met vertel- en dramamiddelen aan de slag. Je bent benieuwd naar de mix van houvast en improviseren, en ervaren hoe het is om te soleren. Je wilt het goed doen, omdat het goed doet te vertellen, zowel jou als je publiek. Ook weet je, of geloof je, dat het vertellen van je eigen verhaal een heilzaam effect heeft op jou en louterend voor je publiek kan zijn. Door verdichting en verbeelding in je persoonlijke werkelijkheid toe te laten, maak je die voor anderen toegankelijk. Daarbij helpt de menselijke maat van storytelling een intieme gelijkwaardigheid tussen performer en publiek te creëren.

Learning to shape and tell your personal story
Stories stimulate your imagination and make you forget the world around you. Yet they are about that world and its inhabitants. They are not always flesh and blood, but they experience a lot. What if you, as a storyteller, give shine to someone from this colorful group of heroes, anti-heroes, animals, strange creatures, travelers and ordinary people ánd work on your own story in just one workshop? What valuable events do you carry with you? Something about origin, relationships or gender? Something political or social? You and nature? Something really crazy? What meaning is actually hidden behind your words? How can listeners recognize themselves in that?

Building on a personal story on a storytelling basis
As a storyteller you want to feel stability in telling and enjoy it. You want to explore how you can make your audience listen with their mouths open and gain insight into your style. How? As a drama teacher I create a sanctuary where you start with a colorful story. From this you filter the story structure that becomes your basis. You learn to tell stories very detailed and to perform 'in and out of the situation'. Then the sanctuary becomes a workshop in which the door to imagination and exploration is wide open. You work on your story and fine-tune it with telling tools and theater tools, but not before you have searched for the meaning behind your words. You do this by working with identification at different levels and with metaphors. At the end you perform shortly for other participants.

For those who want to research, shape and shine
You want to get on the storytelling stage and work with telling tools and drama tools. You are curious about that mix of hold and improvisation, and want to experience what it is like to solo. You want to do it well, because it feels good to tell for you and your audience. You also know, or believe, that telling your own story has a beneficial effect on you and can be cathartic for your audience. By allowing ‘poetry’ and imagination in your personal reality, you make it accessible to others. The human dimension of storytelling helps to create an intimate equality between performer and audience.
